Introduction

As Adrian Newey said, this is the biggest regulation changes he's seen in his whole career.

New power units, removing the MGU-K and using a more fully sustainable fuel developped by Formula One, engines have more power.

Active aerodynamics on front and rear wings, removing the Drag Reduction System. Lighter cars, and expect them to be faster or even slower than the 2022-2025 car era.

This is Formula One.

Along with the new regulation changes, there have been some big changes on the grid:

Team Changes

For the first time in a decade, the Formula One grid has expanded to 11 teams. Yes, GM Motors joins F1 under the name of Cadillac as F1's newest team since Haas in 2016. Before, the American team tried to enter the sport with Andretti Global, but it failed. They will be using Ferrari engines, and they'll bring in their own power units later in 2029. Another drastic change is German car manufacturer Audi purchased Sauber and will enter in Formula One for the first time ever, as a works team. They will be producing their own power units, meaning that Haas and Cadillac are the only two Ferrari customer teams.

Other than the team changes, there have been some other power unit changes: Ford returns to F1 for the first time in more than two decades to supply engines for Red Bull Racing and its sister team, Racing Bulls. Furthermore, Honda turns back into an independant engine supplier to start a new program with Aston Martin. Finally, Renault discontiuned supplying Alpine, meaning that 2026 will be the first season without any Renault power units since 2000. Alpine becomes a customer team and now utilizes Mercedes engines.

Summary:

No 11th Team --- > Cadillac Formula 1 Team

Kick Sauber --- > Revolut Audi F1 Team

Driver Changes

Alpine have decided to switch Jack Doohan for Franco Colapinto. Doohan finished 19th in the championship with 2 points, and Alpine felt that they should let Franco drive for one season. If the latter can perform, Franco could keep his seat. This puts pressure in the Argentine driver.
"I would like to thank Alpine for giving me this chance," said Franco, "But, the pressure will build up race after race, so I will make sure I do my best out there, on the track."

Cadillac, F1's newest team, signed up two experienced driver: Valterri Bottas, who last raced for Sauber in 2024, with much success with Mercedes (10 race wins, 2019 and 2020 runner-up, 8 Constructors' titles), and Sergio Pérez, an ex-Red Bull driver who terminated his contract with the Austrian team by mutual agreement after a disappointing 2024 season. The Mexican driver won 6 Grand Prix, five with Red Bull, claiming 2 Constructors' championships. Experience will help build the American team to fight in the midfield as early as possible.

There has been another swap between Red Bull and its sister team Racing Bulls: Lindblad is promoted from F2 to Racing Bulls, replacing Yuki Tsunoda, who drove for the team for 5 seasons, who will become Red Bull's reserve driver. Isack Hadjar will replace Liam Lawson, despite the latter finishing 7th last year with a maiden podium in Zandvoort. Liam Lawson is demoted to the team based in Farenza alongside the British rookie.

Summary:

Jack Doohan Alpine --- > No Seat

Franco Colapinto No Seat ---> Alpine

Valterri Bottas No Seat ---> Cadillac

Sergio Pérez No Seat ---> Cadillac

Yuki Tsunoda Racing Bulls ---> No Seat

Arvid Lindblad No Seat ---> Racing Bulls

Liam Lawson Red Bull ---> Racing Bulls

Isack Hadjar Racing Bulls ---> Red Bull

Calendar Changes

F1 will host a new Grand Prix: the Madring, located in Spain's capital (another street race...). Imola, which hosted a race since 2020, will leave the calendar. Other than that, the calendar hasn't changed much. The Chinese, Miami, Canadian, British, Dutch and Singapore Grand Prix will host a sprint weekend format.

Season Review

Pre-season testings have come to an end, as McLaren and Mercedes look very fast. Red Bull are showing some strong pace with their new Ford engine, and Williams and Aston Martin looking to be serious contenders for podiums. Cadillac and Alpine look to be the backmarkers of the field, although this is expected.

Round 1 - Australian Grand Prix 🇦🇺

Norris took pole position with style for the first round of the season. Although he lost lead on the opening lap from Russell, he managed to retake it after a safety car restart. Alonso collied with Arvid Lindblad in turn 10, as the Spanish rookie was out of the race. Hamilton suffered a brake failure and spun at turn 11. His car beached and he had to retire from the race. Light rain started pouring on the track on lap 45, provoking chaos. Verstappen (turn 14), Hülkenberg (turn 7), and Sainz (turn 12), spun and beached their cars as they attempted to go to pits to switch to intermediates. Norris made a costly mistake which gave Russell the lead and eventually, his first win of the season. Gabriel Bortoleto managed to score Audi their first points finish of the season, crossing the chequered flag in P10. Piastri finished behind his teammate in P3, becoming the first Australian to finish on the rostrum.

Round 2 - Chinese Grand Prix

From Australia to China, as the teams and drivers are prepping up for the first sprint race weekend of the season. Antonelli suprised everyone to take his second sprint pole of his career. The Italian fought hard to keep Verstappen as he won his first ever sprint race. On race day, rain was forcasted once again later in the race. Gasly was the first to crash, spinning out at turn 1, and hit the barriers. Lawson lost power at turn 12, eventually spinning out and out of the race as he couldn't move the car. Bortoleto crashed out at turn 10, hitting the barriers after spinning out. Piastri and Alonso made contact at turn 12 as well, damaging both of their cars. Both drivers lost significant performance, letting them no choice but to retire.
Alonso: "I'm the most unluckiest guy in the whole **** world!

Antonelli was behind the slow Bearman and suddenly locked up, hit the rear of the British driver, resulting in a safety car. Both drivers retired from the race.
Light rain came, and Lewis Hamilton, once again unlucky, spun around at turn 2, and crashed his car in the barriers. A second DNF for the seven-time world champion. The rain only lasted for two laps, just what every team expected to happen. Verstappen, who started from pole position, controlled the race and dominated to take home his first win of the season, ahead of Norris and Russell.
Verstappen: "Yes guys! That's simply, simply lovely!"

Round 3 - Japanese Grand Prix

We travel across the East China Sea to go to Suzuka, for the Japanese Grand Prix. For the first time, no rain is expected during the race. Antonelli became the youngest pole sitter in history by beating 4-time world champion Max Verstappen by less than a hundredth. The race was going well, as Antonelli defending lap by lap the #3 Red Bull car. At lap 16, the safety car came out as Liam Lawson suffered an unusual brake failure at turn 16, and retired from the race. Later, Oliver Bearman spun at turn 5 and beached his car in the gravel, resulting in another safety car.
It's the final lap. Verstappen is chasing Antonelli through every corner.
Then, Antonelli makes a small mistake at turn 17, as Verstappen was alongside him.
Jacques: "SIDE BY SIDE! WHO WILL CROSS THE LINE FIRST?!"

0.065 seconds. Antonelli takes it home.
Antonelli became the second youngest race winner in F1 history.
Verstappen congratuled him as they came out of their cockpit.
Antonelli: "It feels so great, I want to thank the whole team for the win.

Shoutout to Hamilton and Alonso, who suffered two unlucky DNFs, finished 7th and 9th respectively, the 2 oldest drivers on the grid scoring their first points of the season.

Round 4 - Bahrain Grand Prix 🇧🇭

We now head ourselves to the Middle East for the Bahrain Grand Prix. Norris started on pole position ahead of Verstappen and Russell. A few retirements have occured, including another collision between Piastri and Alonso at turn 10, resulting in a
Alonso: "This guy only crashes with me, this is **** crazy."

Verstappen overtook Norris in the latter stages of the race, opting for a different strategy than the other teams. He comfortably won his second race of the season, ahead of Norris and Russell.

GP: "P1, Max, great drive out there."  Verstappen: "Ah, simply lovely! Well done on the strategy!"

Round 5 - Saudi Arabian Grand Prix

The Jeddah Corniche Circuit - one of the most challenging tracks on the calendar. It punishes any driver who makes the slightest mistake, demanding precision in order to perfectly execute every lap.

Max Verstappen continued his dominant run as he took pole position by almost 3 tenths of Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc.

The race started with Kimi Antonelli who had a small snap with led him into the barriers at Turn 5.

Hadjar suffered from a mechanical failure and retired on the run off area at Turn 1, showing small concerns over the new Ford engine.

The biggest shock was championship contender George Russell suffered a big snap at turn 6, crashing heavily into the barriers, resulting in a red flag. A double DNF for the Brackley based team.
Russell: "**** ****" "I lost the hydraulics, I don't know what's happened."
At the restart, Leclerc overtook Norris as Albon made contact with Oliver Bearman at Turn 2. Albon suffered huge damage on the sidepods, resulting him in retiring for the first time this season.

Verstappen took his third win of the season, behind him is Charles Leclerc who takes Ferrari's first podium of the year. Lando Norris completes the podium as Aston Martin and Audi scored double points, marking an amazing race weekend for both teams.

Here are the standings after the first 5 races:

Verstappen is leading with exactly 100 points, having scored 3 of the 5 races so far. He's 15 points ahead of defending champion Lando Norris, 13 points further ahead of George Russell.

On the other side, Red Bull is leading with 130, 7 points ahead of defending champions McLaren, and 8 points further is Mercedes.

Round 6 - Miami Grand Prix 🇺🇸

We head to North America for the first of the 3 races in the United States, as we prepare for the Miami Grand Prix. It's the second sprint race weekend of the season, offering more action for the fans in the grandstands.

George Russell took sprint pole position, ahead of Norris and Leclerc. On the start, Hadjar spun and crashed at turn 4, into the barriers and out of the race!
Hadjar: "**** **** I'm so stupid, I crashed the car again! Arghh!!!"

Hadjar return to the pits with his head down toward the floor.
On the safety car restart, Leclerc overtook Norris after getting a big tow from behind, taking P2.

George Russell took the sprint victory, as Verstappen struggled during the sprint, finishing in P6.

Verstappen took a dominant pole position ahead of Norris and Piastri. Hadjar's weekend went from bad to worst, who made contact with Charles Leclerc at Turn 12 on lap 6, hitting the barriers and retiring from the race. Leclerc had damage on his front wing and wemt into the pits to repair it. On lap 27, Antonelli spun at turn 6 and crashed into the barriers, resulting in a second safety car.

Sainz made contact with Pierre Gasly at Turn 9, who spun and retired from the race as he couldn't move his car.
Sainz: "What is this guy doing? **** unbelievable.

Hamilton was on a roll; after starting in P6, he overtook Piastri and Russell after pitting for fresh softs, as he moved up to P3.

The race ended under a safety car as Ocon made contact with Liam Lawson at turn 1 on lap 55, as the Haas driver retired from terminal damage.

After 30 race starts, Hamilton scores his first ever podium with the Scuderia Ferrari team.

Hamilton: "Thank you so much everyone, it's been a long time, but we did it."

Verstappen won once again, beating Norris for another race.

The paddock is concerned that Verstappen isn't winning because of the car. It's because of him.

Round 7 - Canadian Grand Prix

We move up to the north in the city of Montreal for the Canadian Grand Prix. Another sprint race weekend, the third one of the season. Russell took sprint pole position, ahead of the fast Verstappen and Leclerc.

Heavy rain came on the first lap. Verstappen committed to divebomb on Russell but failed as he went off track, losing a couple of positions.

Alonso collided with Piastri (again) at turn 8, as the latter retired at turn 10.
"This is **** unbelievable, same guy, we crash. We have to meet the stewards afterwards.”

Russell won ahead of Leclerc and Norris. Verstappen recovered to P4.

Russell beat Verstappen to pole position by less than a tenth, seeking for a perfect race weekend.

The race started under rainy conditions, as all drivers started on inters.

Arvid Lindblad was a victim of the Wall of Champions (Turn 13), hitting the barriers and out of the race. The safety car came out.

Lindblad: “**** I’m so sorry, I’m so **** stupid.”

On lap 29, when it stopped raining, Stroll and Norris collided at Turn 7, both retired from the race.
Norris: “**** is Stroll doing?!”
Stroll: “This McLaren just crashed into me!”

Sergio Pérez suffered a small snap at turn 6 where he clipped the barriers, resulting in another safety car. It was Cadillac’s first DNF. Hamilton’s race went bad, as he crashed into the Wall of Champions.
Hamilton: “I’m so sorry guys.”

Despite the chaos and drama during the race, George Russell took a controlled and dominant race victory.
Russell: “Yes guys! COME ON!”

Meanwhile, the Cadillac pit crew is celebrating as Valterri Bottas crossed the finish line in P10, scoring Cadillac’s first point.
Bottas’ engineer: “That’s P10, our first point finish for the team!” Bottas: “Well done, everyone, let’s continue this path, we’re on the right one.

Round 8 - Monaco Grand Prix 🇲🇨

We go to Europe for the first time this season, on the streets of Monte Carlo, for the Monaco Grand Prix. It is one of the most prestigious races in all of motorsport, being a very challenging track, as one mistake can lead you into the barriers.

Leclerc took an amazing pole position, the first for Ferrari this season at his home race, ahead of Norris and Russell.

Leclerc: “Yes, come on! Let’s go!!!”

The race was a chaotic one.

Fernando Alonso was the first of many drivers to retire from the race, hitting the barriers at turn 3 (this time Piastri wasn't the reason…). The safety car was returning to the pits when heavy rain started pouring on the track. Of all drivers, Max Verstappen had an unfortunate crash, locking up and crashed at turn 3.

Verstappen: “**** **** **** the car couldn’t **** turn!”

9 laps later, as the heavy rain became light, Liam Lawson suffered a spin and crashed at turn 2.

Lap 23 was where the dramatic part happened. As the track dried up, Norris and Ocon made contact at turn 8, where Ocon, who was tempted to return to the pits with a punctured tyre, crashed at turn 12. Both retired from the race. Leclerc crashed at turn 11 while leading, and Gasly who didn’t see the Monegasque driver in front, crashed at turn 10. The red flag came as Russell had a high speed spin, crashing into the barriers at turn 13, leaving large pieces of debris everywhere on track.

Piastri, who started from P6, took victory by 40 seconds ahead of 2nd place Lewis Hamilton (scored first podium at Monaco since 2019). Antonelli completed the podium as it’s his first in the principality. Cadillac will enjoy this weekend as well, as Bottas took another point for the American team.

Round 9 - Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix 🇪🇸

We go to the first of two races in Spain, for the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix.

Norris scored an amazing pole position ahead of Russell and Verstappen.

On the opening lap, Verstappen and Leclerc made contact at turn 4, with Leclerc suffering a puncture and retiring from the race. Verstappen was given a 5 second time penalty.

Leclerc: “Why am I so unlucky?”

Arvid Lindblad spun on the final corner, going through the gravel and slammed into the barriers.

Lindblad’s engineer: “Are you ok?” Lindblad: “**** so sorry guys.”

McLaren gave Norris a horrible strategy which allowed George Russell to undercut him. The latter went on to win his 3rd Grand Prix of the season.

Russell: “Come on, boys, that’s how we do it! Well done on the strat.”

Verstappen finished 4th, losing not many points from his rivals behind.

Round 10 - Austrian Grand Prix 🇦🇹

We return to Red Bull Ring, the shortest track on the calendar, featuring only 10 turns, located in Austria.

Verstappen came back with a dominant pole position, around a track he’s used to winning.

The race started under wet conditions, as the rain was predicted to last until around lap 30-40.

On lap 24, Oliver Bearman collided with Charles Leclerc at turn 5, ending both of their races.

On lap 40, when the track was drying up, Alonso made a mistake at turn 3, which led him to hit Hadjar, the both retiring from the Grand Prix.

Verstappen dominated the Grand Prix, winning by almost 20 seconds, ahead of Russell and Piastri.

Round 11 - British Grand Prix 🇬🇧

We have traveled to Silverstone for the British Grand Prix. For the first time since 2021, it will host a sprint race weekend format.

Leclerc suffered another DNF, crashing with Arvid Lindblad at turn 18, on lap 7.

Verstappen took the sprint pole, but Piastri beat him on the start and took the sprint win.

Valterri Bottas impressed the paddock with a shocking P4 at the sprint, showing the other midfield teams that Cadillac didn’t come to F1 to participate.

Russell took pole position for the initial race, ahead of Norris and Verstappen.

Light rain came as early as lap 2, when Colapinto spun and crashed into the barriers at turn 10. Pérez crashed and Leclerc crashed too, at turns 10 and 18 respectively. The latter suffered his third DNF in a row.

Russell took victory, but Fernando Alonso scored a surprise podium for Aston Martin, their first in two years.
Alonso: “Yes baby, come on!”

Round 12 - Belgian Grand Prix 🇧🇪

We go to Belgium, at Spa-Francorchamps, one of F1’s longest tracks on the calendar.

Charles Leclerc, who DNFed in the last 4 races, took a surprising pole position, ahead of Verstappen and Piastri.

Bearman crashed at turn 1 on the opening lap, making contact with Valtteri Bottas. On lap 16, as it started raining, Sainz spun at turn 14 and beached his car.
Sainz: “So sorry guys.”

Antonelli crashed on lap 22 at turn 13, locking up and hitting the barriers.

Leclerc spent most of his race defending Verstappen, who was eager to overtake the Monegasque driver. But Charles Leclerc took his first win since the 2024 United States GP, and Ferrari’s first of the season.
Leclerc: “YES, YES, YES!!!” “Let’s go, come on!!!”

Round 13 - Hungarian Grand Prix 🇭🇺

One final race before the summer break, as we stop by at Budapest, for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Norris came back in style by claiming pole position, ahead of Piastri and Kimi Antonelli.

The race started with some light rain, however no one was really struggling until Esteban Ocon spun and hit the barriers at turn 5.

On lap 40, the track fully dried up, Nico Hülkenberg crashed at turn 5 as well. Colapinto and Stroll collided at turn 6, leaving pieces of debris on track and triggering the safety car.

Norris had a controlled race, leading the race, and building up a comfortable gap between second place Antonelli (who undercut Piastri in the pits). The reigning world champion would go on to claim his first win of the season.

Norris: “Finally, yes, we did. Well done, team,

Mid-Season Review

After 13 races, Formula 1 enters into the summer break, where the drivers can take some time off, while the teams continue to develop their cars. Here are the highlights of the season so far: Championship contenders

Max Verstappen is leading the Drivers' Championship by 231 points, claiming 5 wins, the most of any driver on the grid so far this season. Behind him is George Russell. He's only 14 points behind, taking home 4 Grand Prix and showing oustanding consistency (expect Saudi Arabia when he crashed). Although it looks it might those 2 rivals battling out, Lando Norris, the defending world champion, is not too far behind. The British driver recently claimed his first win at Hungary, and standing on podium 9 times. If he continues his form from the return of the break, he might have a chance to claim a second title...

On the construtors' side, McLaren and Mercedes are fighting each other over the title. Red Bull might join if Hadjar starts to step up his game, the French driver has yet to score a maiden podium with the Austrian team. Concerns about Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari

Ferrari have had a decent season, with Charles Leclerc winning the Belgian Grand Prix. They are 4th in the Constructors' Championship, 64 points behind 3rd place Red Bull, which is not a good sign, considering they had quite high expectations ahead of the 2026 season.

Lewis Hamilton, seven-time world champion, has a contract with the Maranello based team until the end of this year, and he did confirmed that he might retire if the results aren't improving. The British driver is currently 7th in the Drivers Championship, 47 points behind his Monegasque teammate, claiming 2 podiums at Miami and Monaco.

Unless Lewis Hamilton starts consistenly scoring top 5s, podiums, and maybe wins, Ferrari might keep him. But there have been links that he could be replaced by Oliver Bearman, the latter who hasn't scored a single point for Haas (due to the car, of course).

Is Aston Martin on the right path?

Many believed that Aston Martin could have been contenders for podiums, although that is true as Fernando Alonso finished 3rd at the British Grand Prix. But they speculated that they might fight for titles, not scraping points.

Time will tell if Aston Martin can truly put good upgrades for the upcoming race at Zandvoort...

Round 14 - Dutch Grand Prix 🇳🇱

We return from summer break, as we head to Zandvoort. The Dutch Grand Prix is hosting its final race on the calendar, as announced by the organizers. It is a sprint race weekend format.

Verstappen definitely wants to do well at his home race, claiming sprint pole ahead of his teammate Isack Hadjar and George Russell.

On lap 9 of the sprint, Oscar Piastri and Lewis Hamilton collided at turn 9, leading both drivers to retire from the session.

Red Bull finished a 1-2 for the sprint, as Verstappen claimed the sprint win.

Verstappen claimed pole position for the initial race, delighting the Orange Dutch fans.

Bearman spun and beached his car at turn 9, while his teammate Esteban Ocon suffered a brake failure at turn 6, hitting the barriers. Russell suffered a spin at turn 5 and beached his car on the gravel, a shocking retirement, which might cost him the title later on. Antonelli had worse luck, the Italian driver had a puncture which led his car into the barriers at turn 2. Albon crashed too, at turn 14, he spun, and beached his car.

Rain started to appear on lap 64, and Valtteri Bottas crashed at turn 7.

McLaren made a right call and Piastri managed to beat Verstappen for the race win.

Round 15 - Italian Grand Prix 🇮🇹

We go to the Italian Grand Prix, where the Tifosi fans are waiting to see if Ferrari can give home a win. Maybe leave that for another time, sorry.

Piastri beat Norris and Verstappen for pole, showing off strong pace recently after his win at Zandvoort.

On the opening lap, Verstappen was immediately battling out with Charles Leclerc, and they tangled each other at turn 7. Leclerc received a 5-second time penalty while Verstappen had to retire.

Piastri dominated the race, from start to finish, to claim another win, his first at Monza.
Piastri: “Well done guys, it was a strong weekend.”
