In Italy, Piquet would've been held up by Arnoux, who would've out-qualified Tambay. In Europe, Patrese would've qualified lower, preventing De Angelis from being jumped and allowing him to keep a comfortable lead rather than attempt to fight back into one. In South Africa, Arnoux wouldn't have had an injured foot. Also in South Africa, I am negating the advantage the Michelin runners had as it was entirely unfair to the drivers and teams running Goodyears, such as Ferrari. Normally I wouldn't be this questionable, even if Ferrari matters, but I am firm in this as otherwise, Nelson Piquet Sr. would be champion.
