2027 season

PRE SEASON After nearly winning the title with Aston Martin, Lando Norris moved to the much faster Mercedes, replacing the retiring Lewis Hamilton, and Carlos Sainz replaced him at Aston Martin. Oscar Piastri moved to Ferrari, hoping it would finally be his break into one of the top teams in Formula One. New rookies included Swiss Gergoire Saucy and Brit Oliver Bearman, whilst Dennis Hauger returned with McLaren Honda.

OPENING RACES Oscar Piastri won his first race at his home event for a resurgent Ferrari, and they made it two wins in a row as Theo Pourchaire also won his first race at Bahrain. But the 5 time World Champion, Max Verstappen won in Saudi Arabia, taking the championship lead, but Pouchaire would strike back, winning in Monaco. Lando Norris was also in the championship hunt, but reining champion Russell, Charles Leclerc and Piatri were all trailing behind. Aston Martin were no where near as fast as last year, not getting any podiums, but Andretti Cadillac were just as strong as last year, and Alpine looked strong.

MID SEASON RACES Piastri would return to winning ways in Canada, and would win the next two races as well, but it was Lando Norris who lead the Championship, consitently getting podiums. But a DNF in Hungary saw Piastri retake the championship lead, as Verstappen looked to regain the ground he lost with a DNF of his own in France. A win in Italy saw him close in, and he regained the championship lead at his home race in the Netherlands, where Lando Norris won his first race for the Mercedes team and returning him to the fight after two DNF's in a row. Leclerc's constant reliability issues meant he was out of the picture, while champion Russell was inconsitent. Andretti were still impressing, scoring points at every race so far, and were looking good for a top 5 finish in the constructors championship, beating established rivals such as Aston martin and Alpine.

FINAL RACES Russell won in Japan, whilst a 2nd place finish for Verstappen increased his championship lead. Then he made it two wins out of 3 in the Middle East as he won in Qatar, now with a commanding lead and looking set for a 6th World Title. But Piastri fought back, winning in the USA as Verstappen's engine failed, brining him back into the picture. Norris also unfourtunatley had a engine failure in the USA, meaning he would need miraculous things to happen to win the title. But in the next race, Verstapen got another engine failure in Mexico, and with Piastri only managing 7th, Norris made it a three way showdown in Brazil, as George Russell allowed him to pass to take 2nd place. Yuki Tsunoda became the first ever Japanese driver to win a Formula One race. So in Brazil, if Piastri won the race he would automatically win the title, likewise for Verstappen, but Norris must win and hope Verstappen finishes outside the top 2. Russell was leading the race, but let his fellow countryman through so he could win his first championship, as Verstappen finished 4th and Piastri a disspointing 5th. Andretti improved on last season, clinching 5th place in the constrctors championship, and also getting their first ever podium with Ocon finishing 3rd in Qatar. Aston Martin had a dissapointing seasion after almost winning a championship, and the rookies scored some decent points finishes, with Saucy paticularly impressing.
