F1 Random Universe (2012)

For 17 out of the 20 rounds, Kamui Kobayashi led the championship in his Sauber, the Swiss customer team making an unlikely run at both championships after producing a surprisingly good package. However, at the last round and with three second places in the last 4 rounds, it was Fernando Alonso who won his third world title, whilst his teammate Felipe Massa finished last in the standing, raising a lot of eyebrows about favouritism at Ferrari, as Massa didn't even get a podium. It almost looked certain at the halfway point that Kamui would become the first non-European champion since Jacques Villeneuve in 1997, but a 5 race pointless streak allowed other drivers and teams to catch up, setting up a three way showdown at Brazil between Kamui, Fernando and Sebastian. Kobayashi dominated the race, but Alonso came home in second, which was all he needed to do to win the title by one point. Marussia had a very promising season, winning two races and looking like a decent threat for runners up spot in the constructors right up until the last rounds. HRT and Caterham won their first Grand Prix's as well, and new winners for the drivers included Pastor Maldonado, who won three races, Jean-Eric Vergne, who won twice, Paul Di Resta, Nico Hulkenberg, Sergio Perez, Timo Glock, Vitaly Petrov, Narian Karthikeyan and Charles Pic.
